Summer Solstice

A blessed Summer Solstice to all friends in the North and a blessed Winter Solstice to all in the South.

Today the sun shines in a clear bright blue sky and it will still grace us until almost 10 p.m. tonight. The days are long and everything is strangely energised. Hawthorn has given way to Elderflower and St. John's Wort is just beginning to bloom. The further north you go the later there is light. In the far north of Brighid's Isles they speak of the "summer dim" a gentle light all through the night.

To celebrate an abundance of light I thought I would post a photograph I took at the Calanais Stones on Lewis as the sun set one Summer Solstice eve and the stones picked up the reddening light.

Brighid's Runes

I can hardly believe that it is over a month since I last posted on this blog. Truth is I have had a lot of work designing and printing for the Goddess and other communities. Also the weather has been set fair and the great outdoors has beckoned. One of the projects I have now despatched is a book entitled, "Brighid's Runes" a delightful new collection of women's soul poetry edited by Rachel Mica McCann.

Rachel writes, "'Brighid's Runes' is a collection of around 40 poems by over twenty women from various parts of Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland. The poems celebrate the sacred in every day life and our relationship with the earth. They are funny, poignant, eloquent and passionate! Some of the poets are well published, others are new to print. The money raised from the sale of the book will go towards supporting Women's and Earth healing projects, especially the Green Belt Movement in Kenya established by nobel prize winner Wangari Maatthai which has empowered women through planting trees and community development."

It will make a welcome addition to any library and can be purchased directly from Rachel, e-mail: rmicamc@yahoo.co.uk.
